Fashion Ring - Definition:

Fashion rings can be dainty bands or statement gemstone rings, and they can be worn regardless of marital status.
This Fashion Ring is an Estate Piece which would have been made fairly recently. It consists of a Stunning Glowing Blue Sapphire weighing 2.50cts, Certed by GIA, surrounded with 1cts of Diamonds, set in a Platinum ring. Note that the carat weight of the Sapphire as well as the diamonds and the fact that it is Platinum is stamped on the inside of the band.
From pricing seen at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show, 2024, a Sapphire of this color and size would be in the ballpark of $12,500. Platinum is a costly metal and much denser than gold and wears well - unlike say an 18kt gold ring which would need to have the back of the shank redone due to wearing down from constant use, you don't have to worry about that with Platinum. Small nice quality diamonds obtain a premium, so if you add up the center Sapphire, along with the cost of the Diamonds and Platinum and consider the cost to set all the gemstones, this is well below the price one would expect to create this in the retail market.
GIA Cert states that this is a Natural Sapphire, measures 8.72x6.07x5.03mm (heated). Origin is Sri Lanka, also known as Ceylon, so this is a Ceylon Sapphire. Note that the cost for determination of Origin is quite costly, I believe running about $500 at times.
