Antique Ring Cariatides Cameos Chalcedony Corallium Rubrum Silver
About the Item
This highly unusual silver Ring has been handcrafted in the 1880 's in the Renaissance Revival taste.
Around a beautifully facetted pale lavender blue calcedony with a fine rosette four oval cameo busts are arranged in a lozenge shaped ring head. The much loved cameos were carved out of corallium rubrum at the beginning of the 19th century or possibly even earlier. The engraved ring band terminates into two winged cariatides.
The ring band is marked with an unidentified makers marks in a rectangle.
The ring head measures 4 cm x 2.8 cm.
