Men's Emerald Ring with Diamonds in Platinum

About the Item

Emerald doesn't come any finer than what you see here in this vintage men's ring. This dense platinum hand-fabricated ring from the mid-1990s features a one-carat emerald-cut emerald of the finest color; a vividly saturated bluish-green that is translucent and impeccably cut, with no extinction (or darkness when you look at a gemstone face-on). Emeralds are gemstones with inclusions; evidence of how they came to be in the form of gas, liquid, and crystal. Of course the French have a word for it: Jardin, which means "garden." And this emerald has lovely natural inclusions but it's especially clean for an emerald. Which makes the stone especially bright and lively. This fine Colombian emerald is the exact opposite of 99.999% of the emeralds you will find in men's rings: huge cotton-stuffed Coke-bottle green stones with no translucency. It is a fact that most men's rings are almost universally set with inferior-quality stones. One of the reasons more men don't wear rings is because most men's rings aren't beautiful. This is the exception. It is the finest emerald I have ever encountered in a ring made for a man. Oh yes, there are far larger emeralds. But not finer ones. And it's the beauty of the gem, the perfection of the specimen that matters most. Flanking the emerald on either side are two square-cut white diamonds totaling one-quarter carat. The diamonds are the neighborhood of E-F/VVS1 -VVS2. Which is fairly close to perfect; a word that also fairly well describes this incredibly rare, fine ring. The emerald is securely bezel-set within highly durable and gleaming white fine platinum. Currently a size 8 ¼ -8 ½ this ring could be resized by a skilled jeweler. While the ring was created for a man, it's obviously unisex.
