Large sterling silver modernized interpretation of a Roman key ring. A piece that expresses deeper sentiments and/or just an appreciation for the past via a very recognizable and oversized antique key. Jewelry as metaphor with a punk execution and rock n' roll sensibility. The key barrel features a subtle diamond pavé detail. The ring has been designed and textured to appear lost to time and recently unearthed. Bold slightly oversized in proportion.
The RIMA JEWELS Roman key ring collection distills and updates some of Rocío's favorite key ring designs from the Roman era. Wealthy Romans wore functional keys made of bronze on their fingers to lock and unlock the private coffers safeguarding their valuables. Onlookers found this so sexy that they too acquired key rings though they didn’t necessarily correspond to a coffer, chest, or door. This is fashion. Rocío brings you these keys because there's more to reveal around this theme and phenomenon. RIMA JEWELS
RIMA JEWELS is the cumulative work and ongoing explorations of contemporary studio jeweler Rocío Inès Marsyas' metal smithing practice that began nearly two decades ago as an apprentice to a fourth generation jeweler. The collections, limited edition pieces, and custom works marry an array of interests including the early history of alchemical practice, Roman antiquities and the richly textured history of vanitas paintings and their jewelry counterparts. Each collection and individual piece is meticulously crafted in Rocío Inès' Manhattan studio with the delicacy, care, and discerning design considerations true to the artist's imprimatur. Textures, contours, and the minutiae particular to the materials used are celebrated and never overworked in Ms. Rocío Marsyas' atelier.
