About the Item

From the personal jewelry trove of the owner of The Three Graces comes this magnificent 21st century subtle heart shaped faceted sapphire and diamond platinum ring. Long established and listed as one of the leading jewelers of the world and by the "Association of Interprofessionnelle de la Haute Horologerie", Barducci of Firenze, Italy was established in 1920. Entering into their shop is akin to walking back into a time past with fine wood cabinetry, posh seating and handmade glass cases. The ring is accompanied by the original design drawings and original boxes. Working as the jewelry houses of old by traveling to Ceylon to choose and then cleave the stone according to what would best set off the natural properties, they would then return to Italy. It is here that various designs were conceived of which three were then chosen (see hash marks on drawing) to mock up in metal, and then finally construct the final masterpiece in platinum. The superb sapphire is 7.01 carats in actual weight and is lightly included. A Ceylon sapphire, it is blue transparent with good to very good color grade, good color uniformity, dark tone and is most likely heat treated. Surrounding this rapturous gem are thirty-five (35) trapezoid cut diamonds of 3.42 carats of actual weight and near colorless (G-J color) channel set within a platinum mount with slightly bifurcated shoulders and a smooth unadorned shank. Measurements: 11/16 of an inch (1.8 cm) at the widest and rises 3/8 of an inch (0.8 cm) in height from the finger. Weight of 13.5 grams (8.7 dwt). Ring Size: US 5-3/4 (UK K-1/2; Euro 16.25; 51 mm) and can be easily sized to fit most. Hallmarks: Italian marks for platinum; Italian mark 1077 MI; signed, "Barducci". Note 1: Sapphire was removed for actual weight; diamonds were not removed for certification estimated weight although original receipt was found for actual diamond weight. Note 2: This ring comes with an International Gemological Institute (IGI) certification for the ring with a retail replacement value of $26,780. Provenance: From the owner's private collection purchased in 2000.
