22K Solid Yellow Gold Monogram Ring by ROMAE Jewelry Inspired by Ancient Roman Designs. Our classic and delicate "Victoria" ring modeled after an original of the first century AD may be engraved with one initial letter of your choice, in Roman font type. The Romans, like other ancient cultures, used rings with special and personalized designs on them, "signet" rings, as a form of self-identification. Often incised into the stone or metal, the designs on the front of the rings were often letters that spelled out a name or an idea, or symbols such as images of gods or personifications that meant something to the individual - or that recalled the person's own name in a clever way. As these designs (and therefore the rings) were personalized, they became a type of signature or an official mark of the individual, when pressed into hot wax on a document. Our ring is available in U.S. sizes 5 - 10, and may be personalized with one initial, on the front. Each piece of ROMAE jewelry is inspired by an ancient example, and is carefully designed and lovingly crafted in Rome by archaeologist and museum specialist Cris and artist Elena. Our pieces are made to order, and each is individually cast, hand finished and personalized, which allows for freedom of stone choice and special tailoring such as inscriptions and engravings.
