Antique Mourning signet ring, initial DD, black enamel and 9k gold
About the Item
A gorgeous antique, late Victorian era mourning ring.
This is an initial style signet ring with an applied gold monogram of the initials DD, set on a rich black enamel panel and set into a gold millegrain edge bezel frame.
The ring has decorative bifurcated shoulders and a slim 9ct yellow gold band.
Usually these are found with just one initial but this has the stylised double D monogram.
This style was popular towards the end of the 19th century and through the Edwardian and Art Deco eras.
Marks and era:
It is marked 9ct on the inner band.
Late Victorian era.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, light surface wear / scratches commensurate with age and use, band has some thinning and evidence of a previous resize, small recess at the bezel frame to the base, does not affect integrity, band slightly off round.
