The obverse side of the coin depicts Valentinian I, the Emperor of Rome from 364 to 375 AD, who ruled as co-emperor with his brother, Valens, retaining the western part of the Empire. He conducted many successful military campaigns and founded the Valentinian Dynasty. His violent and brutal temper led him to suffer a stroke during diplomatic negotiations, leading to his death.
