About the Ancient Coin The obverse side of the coin depicts Geta, the Emperor of Rome from 209 to 211 AD. He ruled together with his father, Septimius Severus, and his older brother, Caracalla. The brothers, following the death of Severus in 211, proved incapable of joint rule. Caracalla, reputed to be one of the cruellest Roman Emperors, conspired to kill his brother, succeeding late in 211. The reverse side of the coin depicts Geta on the left, in military dress with a cloak hanging behind him, holding a spear. To the right is a trophy with a cuirass.
