Original 1950’s Thunderbird Bell Trading Post Sterling Signet Ring
About the Item
Our C1950’s original southwestern native American "Thunderbird" Eagle signet ring symbolizes power, strength and leadership. The Thunderbird eagle is a mythological bird which gets its name from its forceful wings that create thunder in their wake with lightning shooting from the bird's beak. The thunderbird was responsible for ensuring the earth was watered and vegetation came up. Lightning was believed to flash from its beak, and the beating of its wings represented thunder.
This is a substantial ring with a solid masculine feel around the finger and is suitable for men or women. It is very comfortable on. If you collect native American jewelry, do not want to miss out on this one!
Hallmarked with original Bell’s Trading Post symbol, the symbol of the bell.

- C1650 Medieval Silver Signet Ring Of Pelican in Her Piety and Religious SymbolsLocated in Baltimore, MDThis rare silver ring dates from the 1600's and likely originates from Western Europe. The ring is cast in one piece, the intaglio is framed within a chased octagonal border and the band displays flared and chamfered edges at the shoulders, all features typical of the period. The Pelican in Her Piety Medieval signet ring features strong cross cultural references with the engraving of the pelican and the navigation symbols of the moon and stars. Sixteenth and seventeenth century portraits show signet rings worn on the forefinger or thumb, to more easily press the ring to the wax with a simple turn of the hand. Albeit their practical function, with the use of precious metals they were also signs of status. The Pelican in her piety refers to the medieval fable of the pelican drawing blood from her breast to feed her chicks. The pelican is thus a symbol of the blood of Christ in communion, a sacrifice needed for the redemption of mankind. The crescent moon and star...Category
