Set of Three Stacking Diamond Solitaires in 18 Karat Yellow Gold

About the Item

Eytan Brandes has been making these at our store, pretty much from the ground up, for several years. He sculpts a wax model to fit a specific diamond, then sets the diamonds and does all the finishing work. The only part of the process he farms out is the casting. He makes these stacker rings in yellow, white, or rose gold, 14K, 18K or 22K. Each ring is different since he doesn't save the wax model. Because the cone-shaped bezels encase almost all of the diamond's pavilion, these settings don't reflect a lot of light and are not the right platform for showing off highly-rated diamonds. Instead, Eytan uses diamonds from vintage and antique pieces, especially good-sized diamonds (over a half carat) in the SI-VS range with interesting colors and cuts, then he individually crafts the mounting to show each stone to its best advantage. As an example of how Eytan's diamond expertise informs this piece, Ring A (see second photo) has the largest diamond, but by a gemologist's standard, it's also of the lowest clarity and color. Rather than trying to obscure this fact with a lot of fussy milgrain or pavé, Eytan highlights the stone's interesting characteristics. It's an older cut, with a large, low table so Eytan made the bezel slightly deeper (to emphasize the large table), and gave it a roughly square shape, so now both the diamond and the mounting provide the perfect contrast against the other, brighter stones. Genius! The mountings are in 18 karat gold with a gorgeous satin finish. There is no right or wrong way to stack the rings and they can be worn individually or even strung on a chain or cord as a necklace. Currently, this set is sized to fit a 5.75 finger. Resizing is free down to size 3.5 and up to size 8. Each ring is signed by Eytan and stamped "18K." The total weight of the set is 9.4 grams, of which approximately 0.45 grams can be attributed to the diamonds. Ring A: approx. 0.85 carat -- J-K color -- SI3 clarity Ring B: approx. 0.65 carat -- H-I color -- VS2 clarity Ring C: approx. 0.75 carat -- I-J color -- VS1/VS2 clarity The total diamond weight is 2.25 carats.
