About the Item

This is a stunning Georgian 18ct yellow Gold Antique ring Circa 1800, set with fabulous Georgian workmanship of its time, all original to the gallery and shank. The central stone is a Ruby surrounded by natural Pearls. Pearls have a wonderful lustre with a rich creamy tone, they are lovely lustrous and natural. The Ruby is considered to be the most powerful gem of the universe, given as a gift, the ruby is a symbol of friendship and love. Ruby is also the symbol of vitality and loyalty. Turquoise stones chase down each shoulder. The turquoise stone has healing properties, it protects the wearer from negative energy and brings good fortune. Turquoise is the symbol of friendship, and also brings peace to the home. It is also a symbol of forget me not. Forget me not, O Lord is what a poor German knight shouted as he fell into a river. He and his lady were picking flowers by the side of the river at the time, no doubt enjoying the beautiful day around them, and yet as fate would have it, the knight's armour dragged him down to the bottom as he fell in. Upon his cries to the Lord, he threw the blue posy of flowers to his loved one and promptly drowned. This little tale reportedly dates to around the 15th century, but no doubt had different permeations along the way, as romantic stories often do. Hence, the concept of remembrance, eternal love and faithfulness grow from this. This has been tested as 18ct yellow Gold.
