Spectacular and rare: this 19th-century snake ring was created by hand-pulled gold wire which was pounded flat, coiled, fused and engraved with rich detailing. A small diamond set inside a chunky silver bezel forms the crown of the snake. This thin ring (.98mm) is so meticulously detailed and extraordinarily fine. I'm dating it as an early Victorian piece -circa 1850- but it may well be an older Georgian ring. Remarkably, the ring is not dented, torn, or damaged in any way.
