Golay-Leresche et Fils, Genève Dimensions Top of Swallow Tail to bottom of lapel pocket watch pendant : 50mm Width of Pendant at widest part : 40mm The present example is a true work of art and is an extremely rare creation by one of the most famous timepiece maisons of the late 1800s known as Golay-Leresche & Fils. The Golay Le Resche firm were successors to Golay Fils & + Stahl, Genève, and had an office at 2 Rue de la Paix in Paris during this time. Golay Leresche & Fils are considered one of the most famous Swiss watch manufacturers of their period and are known for their intricate workmanship and extremely high level of enamel skill sets during this timeframe amonst their ability to create complicate timepiece mechanisms. The Pendant watch designed as a Flying Swallow is designed to be worn either as a brooch on the lapel of a jacket or can be modified and added to a necklace grossgrain as it is styled in the photos above. There are very few examples of such a piece made during this period and no other example of this kind found in literature by this present maker. During this timeframe many famous artists were incorporating the designs of swallows with wings gaped and beaks down as part of a major design for this art nouveau period. The present example is completely three dimensional with carefully placed rose cut diamonds along the wing trims, far head and center tail with also ruby set eyes. The enamel is beautifully applied to reach all different magnificent hues of royal blue colors as the light hits it and it is clear that even the slightest details of feathers were meant to be painted along the wings as one examines the piece closer. Additionally, the lapel is further accented as diamonds are set throughout the case where flowers are presented by additional rose cut diamonds throughout. The dial is signed by the maker and as well as the cuvette and the movement has been recently serviced and is also in perfect working condition.
