Rockford Watch Company was one of Americas earliest watch factories. The company was located about 100 away from Chicago. on the Rock River, hence the name. They offered their first models for sale around 1875. Since their factory was located near 3 different railroads they advertised heavily around the communities involved. This turned out to be a clever program as most of the railroad engineers bought their watches. Unfortunately the company had financial issues and by 1896 they had to reorganize the house and in 1915 they closed down. Interestingly, part of their factory was integrated into the structure for the Rockford High School years later.
We have just given it a complete professional service and it keeps dependable time as well. We will continue to service it for you. It is a large watch with an unusual case design and we supply it with pocket watch chain as well.
