Gruen 420SS Veri Thin Pan American Wrist Watch
About the Item
A vintage find and in its original condition, enjoy this circa 1940's Pan American Wrist Watch with Veri Thin movement developed and manufactured by Gruen Watch Co. An American based company, Gruen was one of the largest watch manufacturers in the United States through the mid-century. In 1904, the company first introduced the Veri Thin movement in a pocket watch which was an innovation that rearranged parts to produce a thinner movement for a more streamlined look. Following, Gruen introduced this era's new technology into a model of wrist watch. This Gruen Pan American Wrist Watch 420SS has a 17 jewel Veri Thin movement. This circa 1945 watch has a steel case with gold-plated crown that does show some wear from its journey into the 21st century but it has plenty of vintage appeal. It two-toned face has a 12/24 hour military style dial with blue metallic hands and a red second hand sweep. A new nine inch military style leather bund strap has been added. Interesting timepiece in original condition to add to a collection.
