"Three Ribbon Heads", Art Deco Hand Colored Lithograph by John Luke Eastman 1984
Located in Soquel, CA
"Three Ribbon Heads", Art Deco Female Figurative by John Luke Eastman. 1984 Beautiful mid-1980's hand colored Art Deco style lithograph by Southern California artist John Luke Eastman (American, b.1929). In this 1984 version of Eastman's "Three Ribbon Heads", a delicate flowing line drawing of three consecutive women's faces in profile are framed by ribbons in a circular composition. As in many of the artist's works, Eastman captions the piece with the following phrase: " In this life we have three lasting qualities...faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of them is love." Hand signed and dated in pencil lower right, "John L. Eastman 84" artists proof. Displayed in a light grey mat and new art deco-style giltwood frame. Paper size: 20"H x 16"W. Framed size: 19.5"H x 23.25"W x 1"D. John Luke Eastman is a Southern California artist with a unique style. A graduate of UCLA with a degree in graphic arts, he was successful fashion illustrator and art director for prestigious department store in L. A. before turning his full attention to fine art. Over the part decade he has created and mastered the unique style that is currently found in his limited edition silk-screen graphics. A versatile artist, who has illustrated many record and book covers he refers to his style as "the 5th dimension" or "beautiful distortion". The qualities he seeks to impart through his works are fluidity of movement, a feeling of spatiality, weightlessness and beautiful color. His artworks have been in a lot of shows across the country. He recently had show at Celux (Louis Vuitton membership...

Mary Pickford Douglas Fairbanks at Walpi First Mesa Hopi Village 1920 Photograph
Located in Soquel, CA
Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks at Walpi First Mesa Hopi Village 1920 Photograph Original Sepia toned Silver gelatin photographic print by Charles Roshe (British, 1885-1974). Provenance: Mary Pickford, Elizabeth (Bess) Huggins. Image 10.75"H x 13.75"W He was Mary Pickford's favorite cinematographer and a personal friend, shooting all of the films in which she starred from 1918 to 1927, before they had a falling out during production of Coquette (1929). He was the first cinematographer to receive an Academy Award, along with Karl Struss, for Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans (1927), and won again for The Yearling (1946), with Leonard Smith and Arthur Arling. He was also nominated four times. Walpi, pueblo (village), Navajo county, northeastern Arizona, U.S., on the edge of a high mesa in the Hopi Indian Reservation. It comprises a group of angular stone houses of two to three stories crowded on a narrow tip of the steep-walled mesa at an elevation of 6,225 feet (1,897 metres). The original pueblo (founded c. 1700) was on a lower part of the mesa, but following the Pueblo Rebellion, the inhabitants moved to the top as a defensive measure against Spanish retaliation. Walpi is known for an antelope ceremony and for snake dances, held during odd years in August and generally closed to non-Hopi spectators. Shitchumovi (Sichomivi) pueblo is adjacent and Hano is nearby. Pickford was the first Canadian to win an Oscar. She was also the second to win best actress and the first for a role in a film with sound. She was one of the founding members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. In 1919 Pickford took the lead in organizing the United Artists Corporation with Griffith, Charlie Chaplin, and Douglas Fairbanks. In 1920, after the dissolution of her first marriage (1911–19) to actor Owen Moore, she married Fairbanks (divorced 1936). Pickford’s popularity continued unabated in Pollyanna (1920), Little Lord...

1830's Hand-colored Lithograph of a Ground Squirrel
By Thomas Doughty
Located in Soquel, CA
Wonderfully preserved hand-colored 1830's lithograph "Ground Squirrel" by Thomas Doughty (American, 1793 - 1856), circa 1830. From "The Cabinet of Natural History and American Rural Sports." Phila: J.&T. Doughty, 1830-32. Sold previously by Bland Gallery, Early 20th century East Side gallery specializing in miniatures. Presented in frame with new acid-free mat under plexiglass. Image size: 7.25"H x 8.75"W. Doughty’s short-lived magazine “The Cabinet of Natural History and American Rural Sports” is an important imprint in the history of American printing. It contained the first colored sporting prints made in America. Issued in monthly parts and published from the end of 1830 until the spring of 1834, “The Cabinet” featured articles on hunting, detailed descriptions of newly discovered flora and fauna, and some of the finest examples of early American hand-colored lithography. It was originally the work of the Doughty brothers, Thomas and John, with virtually all of the plates being the work of Thomas, who also founded the Hudson River School. But, by the spring of 1832, the partnership had broken up and Thomas had moved to Boston. An abbreviated third volume lacked Thomas’ touch. Printed by Childs & Inman, the partnership between Philadelphia engraver and lithographer Cephas G. Childs and New York portrait...

Vintage 1990s Nolan Miller Couture Ivory Embroidered Silk Strapless Mermaid Gown
By Nolan Miller
Located in Beverly Hills, CA
A breathtaking Nolan Miller Couture unworn with tags embroidered silk organza sculpted bridal gown dating back to the early 1990's. Nolan Miller was an acclaimed costume designer best known for his work on the long-running series Dynasty. Miller was nominated six times for an Emmy Award, winning 'Outstanding Costumes' in 1984 for the Dynasty series, which also set a fashion trend for glamorous high society gowns. This stunning Nolan Miller creation from his exclusive couture line is the perfect solo in the spotlight 'Barbie Doll' bridal look. This showstopper has serious allure with that hourglass mermaid silhouette. The fabric itself is a masterpiece; the highest quality large-scale ivory floral cutwork embroidered silk organza with a matching ivory silk underlay. I adore the fully corset boned satin trimmed sweetheart plunge strapless with adorable back-bow. A curved nipped waist with fitted mermaid slightly trained skirting creates the perfect amount of drama to this timeless garment. It is impeccably seamed and on the level of modern day haute couture. This would make an epic red carpet or wedding moment. Measurements Bust: 32-33 inches Waist: 25-26 inches Hips: 35 inches Length top to waist: 11 inches Length waist to hem: 41 inches This 1990's Nolan Miller Couture designer gown...

"Take Your Pleasure Seriously" - Mixed Media Textured Collage Painting
By Cabell Molina
Located in West Hollywood, CA
This 36 inch square original mixed media painting on canvas is wired and ready to hang. Layers of patterned collage elements and acrylic paint bring this artwork to life. The layering and unique texture of colorful clippings and geometrical designs create a window looking into a luxurious escape perfect for any home or office. The sides of the artwork are painted and it does not require framing. It is signed and titled by the artist on the back of the artwork. Molina's work is influenced by her prior career as an advertising art director–but now her goal now is to sell perspective rather than product. In this series, Cabell reclaims classic femininity as multi-faceted, giving voice and texture to lost imagery. Her art pushes for colorful expansion of a “woman’s place” while it explores the complex dynamic of a woman’s emotions, celebrating the bygone glamour of mid-century fashion and deconstructing its patriarchal underpinnings. Cabell’s painting/collages read as meditations on the female experience and the pursuit for sovereignty in a historically male dominated culture. She studied graphic design, and fine art at San Diego State University and Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. Her work has been featured in NYT The Cut, CNN Style, and Vogue, as well as shown in multinational galleries and can be found in private collections around the world.
