Atlanta Homes & Lifestyle Home for the Holidays Showhouse

Family Home by Cloth & Kind in Atlanta, GA

The annual Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles' Home for the Holidays showhouse is one of the city's favorite wintertime traditions. Formerly known as the Christmas House, Home for the Holidays is an annual showcase of Atlanta's leading design talents, and CLOTH & KIND was honored to be included amongst a roster of A-list interior designers. The 2014 showhouse, located on top of a hill on Habersham Road, was inspired by the 1890s-1920s English Arts and Crafts style of Sir Edwin Lutyens. Designed by Harrison Design Associates and built by Sheehan Built Homes, the stone-and-brick residence conveys a strong connection to its heavily canopied landscape—fitting for the Home for the Holidays beneficiary, the Southeastern Horticultural Society.

Given the tucked away location of the vestibule and bonus room, we were inspired to turn the adjoining spaces into an alluring destination in the home - a seductive and modern day speakeasy. A cheeky nod to the blind tiger, as speakeasies were often referred to during the prohibition era, we swathed the walls of the vestibule in ZAK+FOX’s luxurious Khaden tiger print fabric. Dark and sultry trim, ceilings and walls set the mood and create the ideal backdrop upon which a myriad of geometric shapes are echoed throughout the bonus room in watery shades of cream, blue & indigo, plum, blush pink and neutral. Just as speakeasies did in their day, the bonus room beckons with promises of lounging and frivolity - cocktails, cards, dancing and an abundance of comfortable seating in an inviting salon. A mid-century bar and a trio of old rail car barstools found on the side of the road all join forces to make saddling up for an evening of festivities more stylish than ever.

True to CLOTH & KIND's vibe, the two spaces are layered with history and heart, with story and substance.
