Beach House by Nick Fyhrie Studio in CA, US

For this interiors project located in the small community of Channel Islands Harbor in California, interior designer and artist Nick Fyhrie of NICK FYHRIE STUDIO collaborated directly with his client to bring about an unexpected residence filled with treats for the eyes. Color and pattern were the main starting points for Nick’s design process and getting to know his creative client, a costume designer who works in Hollywood. She said that one of her favorite colors is “cold cream”, the unusual light pink of a beauty hallmark from the 1940s and 50s. Indeed, it is the different shades of pink that provide cohesive accents to this otherwise notably eclectic two bedroom home.

Once Nick became acquainted with the client’s unique art collection that includes a remarkable stylistic range of Jesus portraits from near and far, the challenge was to integrate the range of visual pieces throughout the house. By combining new and antique with bold choices of color and materials in the furniture and lighting, there became an unexpected marriage with the contemporary elements of the interior renovation that features concrete flooring, teak wood cabinetry, and aluminum framed windows. Custom designed furniture became a key factor in harmonizing an open floor plan. The result is comfortable, cozy, and anything but ordinary - just take a seat on either of the the fully upholstered Pierre Frey alpaca plaid arm chairs and enjoy the view!

NICK FYHRIE STUDIO is a mutlidisciplinary art and interior design practice launched in 2018. Nick approaches each project uniquely to his client’s needs with a clever and sophisticated creativity.
