Steps from the sand, this Southern California beach house is a home-away-from-home for a couple whose main home base on the East Coast. These empty-nesters wanted a sunny seaside getaway that struck a balance between a familiar aesthetic and a California vibe, for their frequent trips to visit their Los Angeles-based adult children.

The client’s love of blue & brass set the foundation for many of the design decisions. The soothing blue backdrop dovetailed nicely with the desire for a traditional coastal aesthetic—but one with a slightly contemporary edge. Vintage Italian furnishings pair with beadboard cabinetry, traditional millwork, wide plank white oak floors, honed marble, abstract art and subtle nods to nautical moments
