Park Avenue Pied-a-terre

Apartment by Tarek Shamma in New York, NY

Set on a high story of Rafael Viñoly’s 432 Park Avenue, this lateral apartment offers sweeping views across the city. The brief was to redefine and finish the gallery-esque shell, and comprehensively furnish the interior to render a contemporary and warm atmosphere.

We made use of unique finishes that change and play with light, such as gold-flecked cerused doors of monolithic proportion. Minimalism and warmth is achieved with bold statement furniture, juxtaposed with a creative use of rich fabrics, such as acid wash finishes on silk rugs to embrace the cloud vistas.

Every room has its own story, where respective joinery details cater to both masculine and feminine sensibilities. Careful consideration was given to the clients use of space and lifestyle - reconfigured to create privacy between the entertaining space and the family bedroom suites. A discrete service corridor provides inconspicuous servicing to both spaces.
