San Antonio High Rise

The clients acquired this downtown condominium as a pied-à-terre, a high-rise aerie that would be used for weekends on the town and city entertaining. Our brief, to create a mood of fizzy elegance—fun and ebullient but also stylish—was made easier by the abundance of light and the client’s love of color. The mostly neutral palette was enhanced with splashes of brilliant pink by way of the Clarence House silk-velvet fabric on the dining chairs and sofa pillows. To this we added delicate lilac in the form of vintage Murano glass table lamps, Chinese red on a vintage lacquered chionoiserie cabinet, and animal prints on armchairs and a daybed. Bagues faux-brass bamboo side tables, a handsome Biedermeier chair, a Venetian mirror, and many other vintage pieces contribute to the apartment’s appealing low-key glamour.
