Santa Monica Rental

In collaboration with Laura Roberts Interiors, The Luster Kind completed an accelerated design scheme for a client in swift need of a 2 bedroom rental overhaul in Santa Monica, CA. Our dear bachelor, who was moving from New York to California, needed a space that spoke equal parts comfort, inspiration and entertainment. With a passion for surf, skate and California music heritage, we were asked to create a fluid grouping that would be both glamorous and coastal. Our vision evolved to include sourcing masculine textures, bold contrast and a variety of timeless contemporary furniture pieces inspired by 1970’s forms and silhouettes. The rich materiality of the space also served as a backdrop for the client’s personal objects filled with memories and travel. The art design included rockers from the LA scene of the 60′ and 70’s, both glam and folk with a little echo coming down from the canyon.
