Editor and Activist
As the scion of the Hearst publishing dynasty, Hearst has leveraged her bold-faced name to generate awareness for her philanthropic passions, which include socially conscious shopping and animal rights. In her current role as special projects editor of Town & Country — which was preceded by a stint as market editor at Marie Claire — Hearst focuses on highlighting ethically sourced, sustainably produced wares. Last year, she teamed up with New York designer Hassan Pierre to create Maison de Mode, a sequence of pop-up boutiques aimed at adding luxury cachet to the ethical fashion marketplace. In 2010, Hearst partnered with the Humane Society to found Friends of Finn, an anti-puppy mill committee that seeks to galvanize next-generation donors and has thus far raised over $1.3 million. This week, Hearst selects her favorite items from 1stdibs, showcasing the sustainable angle of vintage goods. More
