Gwyneth Paltrow
Founder, goop
In 2008, Gwyneth Paltrow established goop as place on the web where food, shopping, and mindfulness collide. Launched out of Paltrow’s kitchen, goop was originally conceived of as a weekly email newsletter. The concept was two-fold: She wanted a place to organize her unbiased travel recommendations, health-centric recipes, and shopping discoveries for friends, and also wanted to get her own questions — about health, fitness, and the psyche — answered. Today, goop has become a place to meet experts who are pioneering new paths for the latter, and a destination where readers can find suggestions about where to shop, eat, and stay from a trusted friend. It’s also now a tightly-edited e-commerce boutique, where you can find everything from the perfect white top, to the ideal dutch oven, along with exclusive collaborations with designers. To bring the online experience to life, goop created a two-week-long pop-up boutique in collaboration with interior designer Kara Mann, in Chicago. Below, shop pieces from the Chicago pop, and more of Paltrow's favorites from 1stdibs.
