    This finely made table in the Gothic Revival taste comes from England, circa 1875. All things Gothic have had a steady love affair by the English and have enjoyed several revival periods. The best was in the second and third quarters of the 19th century which is when this table was made. Constructed of walnut the table is designed to feel monumental without being of that scale. Set on four Quatrefoil column legs that rise to a shaped pierced arch that is centered on each side by a shield. The finish is old and excellent in color and sheen. The marble top is shaped with rounded corners has a simple ogee edge and is a nice soft green. The profile of the table allows it to be used as a freestanding library...

    These chairs from circa 1840 are well made and retain the original split cane woven inset seat mats. The wood is finished in a deep rich red transparent lacquer giving the wood a lustrous finish . They are generous in scale and comfortable and original throughout. The arms are carved in a bamboo pattern and the central splat is decorated with a pierced Chinese linguistic character.
