A painting of a room is called an interior portrait. You may sometimes see this genre of art referred to by the French term “portrait d'intérieur” or the German word “Zimmerbild.” Interior portraits were very popular during the Victorian age, and Queen Victoria herself owned several. Some painters who specialized in the genre included William Henry Hunt, Mary Ellen Best, William Henry Pyne, Charles Percier, Adrien Dauzats, Ferdinand Rothbart and Rudolf von Alt.
