What is the genre of Photorealism?
1 Answer

The genre of Photorealism is an art movement that emerged during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Taking its cues from Pop art, Photorealism incorporated vivid depictions of the real and the regular, from advertisements to cars to cosmetics. Artists working in this style sought to portray subjects as realistically as possible. The meaning of Photorealism evolved with time, and the core group of Photorealists expanded to include younger artists experimenting with new technology. Some notable Photorealist artists include Richard Estes, Ralph Goings, Chuck Close, Audrey Flack and Charles Bell. Find a diverse assortment of Photorealist art on 1stDibs.
