What is the meaning of kintsugi?

1 Answer
What is the meaning of kintsugi?
Kintsugi directly translates to “joining with gold” in Japanese. The method of kintsugi, also known as kinsukuroi, is to repair broken pottery by mending individual pieces with lacquer mixed with gold, silver or platinum. Kintsugi leans into the philosophy that broken items should be repaired to enhance rather than disguise. Browse a variety of kintsugi pottery on 1stDibs.
