The sculpture made by Antonio Canova that depicts the three mythological daughters of the Greek god Zeus is The Three Graces. Canova spent three years carving the sculpture, which he completed in 1817. An English collector had commissioned the work after seeing a similar piece Canova had produced for Joséphine de Beauharnais, Napoleon's first wife.
