What was Antonio Canova's famous neoclassical sculpture?

1 Answer
What was Antonio Canova's famous neoclassical sculpture?
Antonio Canova's famous neoclassical sculpture is often cited as The Three Graces. The marble sculpture depicts the three daughters of Zeus from Greek mythology. After receiving a commission from an English collector, Canova worked on the piece from 1814 to 1817. It was actually his second treatment of the subject, the original sculpture having been made for Joséphine Bonaparte, the first wife of Napoleon. The work is now part of the collections of London's Victoria & Albert Museum. On 1stDibs, explore a collection of Antonio Canova art.
