What was the purpose of the Roman helmet?
1 Answer

The purpose of the Roman helmet was to protect the wearer’s head. It fit reasonably snug and featured a reinforced bar on parts that were likely to be hit. The helmet sometimes also included metal flaps to protect the cheeks and chin. Shop a collection of Roman-inspired art from some of the world’s top enthusiasts on 1stDibs.
