Aubrey Penny (American 1917-2000) was an innovative California abstract artist who worked in a variety of mediums. Owner of the No-os gallery on La Cienega Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA, from 1955-70s, he is described as the "originator of style. "No-oism" or "mind line", inspired by the mind in the continuum and how "chemical-electric relationships lead to neural energy, to feeling, to act." Studied: UCLA (BA, art & art hist, 1953; MA, art, 1955); Dr Danes. Exhibited: LACMA, 1954-57; Corcoran Gal biennial, 1957; AWCS, 1957-58; PAFA, 1959; two-man shows, Madison Gal, NYC, 1963 & Int De Deauville, France, 1972.
