About the Item
Sposobb #3 is an abstract work by contemporary artist Oleg Ustinov, made in 2013 for the artist's ongoing project "IDM" (Intelligent Dance Music). In “IDM” Oleg explores the dialogue between image and sound, creating large format paintings. Mutating melody along with the changing non-linear rhythm and a glitch at the certain moment of the track are transferred into the visual realm. “IDM” appeals to the childish, intuitive perception of the painting as a combination of color and composition, turning the painting into a text, full of syntactic and semantic breaks. “IDM” also involves recycling: it utilizes waste paper (printed with a logo net) from promo materials. This logo net is modified and turned into a new type of the “grid” — a new method developed in further series.
Oleg Ustinov, b. 1984, is a Russian artist from Rostov-on-Don, a graduate of the Rodchenko Art School. He develops new forms of painting at the intersection of post-digital painting, collage and sculpture. In his artistic practice, he turns to the experience of the Soviet avant-garde and abstract expressionism.
