Barbara Kroll
Two on a bench, Drawing, Pencil/Colored Pencil on Paper

2023

About the Item

In my paintings I try to combine the visual and the conceptual. For me, drawing is a medium of knowledge that, beyond direct expression, makes material and immaterial forces and plastic processes visible in the broadest sense. So I see the drawing as an "extension of a thought" because it directly reflects the creative processes. The spontaneous and direct way of working is one of the most important characteristics of my art. :: Drawing :: Expressionism :: This piece comes with an official certificate of authenticity signed by the artist :: Ready to Hang: No :: Signed: Yes :: Signature Location: bottom right :: Paper :: Portrait :: Original :: Framed: No

Initiatrix - 03-12-18 The third art work in my new series on Egypt. I experimented with my personal style 'roundism' in combination with realism and surrealism. I also used a previous theme the 'holy vortex' and my theory on singularities. The new element is the ancient carved block patina, giving it a layered and also surrealistic look. Vortices as a result of the application of the golden ratio already were recognized and employed by the old Egyptians...

Robert Ruello Switch-It #9, 2016 graphite, watercolor, and colored pencil on paper 20 x 15 inches Energetic and charged with visual power, the Switch-It series is movement and transition visualized. Ruello’s formal investigation of how we move through and disrupt various environments (digital, analog, and in-between) is rendered through these graphic elements. As he notes, “As a result of this disruption, the array is no longer stable or predictable — visual illusions and shifting figure/ground relationships begin to emerge.” Ruello’s work stems from an enjoyment in the tension between the stable and the unpredictable. Though not figural, his work presents elements that are recognizable from our visual vernacular. Digital screens, popular science...
