Artist Bill Kreitlow paints the grassy marshes of Assateague Island. "Although I have lived almost all my life on Maryland's western shore, it is the eastern shore that I am most in love with," shares Bill. He captures the crisp air and the blue sky reflected in the tranquil backwater. The autumnal foliage shifts to golden hues, creating a warm and comforting scene.
About the Artist
Bill Kreitlow is a longtime lover of watercolor. He began experimenting with the medium in high school, and has continued to explore its properties and test its limits. Bill uses translucent layers of paint to create the effects of light, water, and atmosphere. His images capture serene natural vistas at seemingly magical moments. Bill finds inspiration in glassy water and wispy clouds, and uses his own photographs taken on day trips and vacations as source material. Though the images are a great starting point, the final paintings are always subject to Bill’s own interpretive lens.

Artist James Nyika paints a glimpse of a busy cityscape during the sunset. He captures a sense of stillness and tranquility in spite of the traffic and commotion. "I was leaving a restaurant in Washington when I saw this unbelievable light, and I ran out like a madman into the middle of the street to capture the reference," says James.
