About the Item
Artist Comments
"While walking around the grounds of the Eisenhower Farm in Gettysburg, PA, we came to what was once a pasture with an open gate," shares artist Bill Kreitlow. Beyond the entryway, an old tree stands with its branches almost bare. Bill imagines it to have provided shade for the livestock from a hot summer sun. "What is left is barely hanging on to life."
About the Artist
Bill Kreitlow is a longtime lover of watercolor. He began experimenting with the medium in high school, and has continued to explore its properties and test its limits. Bill uses translucent layers of paint to create the effects of light, water, and atmosphere. His images capture serene natural vistas at seemingly magical moments. Bill finds inspiration in glassy water and wispy clouds, and uses his own photographs taken on day trips and vacations as source material. Though the images are a great starting point, the final paintings are always subject to Bill’s own interpretive lens.
