Roundism – 31-03-20, Drawing, Pencil/Colored Pencil on Paper

2020

About the Item

Roundism – 31-03-20 In my last drawing ‘Roundism – 29-03-20’ I employed the technique of solarisation again. It turned out to be a rather realistic one and so I decided to do another one more abstract. See what that might bring me. I combined some basic geometry (circular, square and triangular forms) with abrupt tonal contour delineations and softer gradient ones, creating rhythym and variation. I guess I am trying out new tecnniques every time so my roundism style can evolve. I think everything is an ever continuum of creation and learning. Solarisation or inverting tonal regions might be my new learning curve. An archeological memory of Bettie Page - 13-11-18 The reference picture I used was slightly different from the one I used for 'The revelation of Bettie Page (2018)'. I kept it for quite some time but finally saw a great looking sphinx coming from her arm. The difficulty was to create three different images in one: her body, the sphinx and also the incorporation of the fox / dog figure I used before...
