A Second One This graphite pencil drawing ‘Art Deco Nude – 06-08-22’ follows one day after the first, done with my new pencils. In fact, immediately after the completion of the first one I started the second in my studio at Brugman Art. However, finished a day later but within an hour in total. Surely this shows my enthusiasm. The Pitt Graphite Matt pencils and the Ingres paper to me are a perfect match. You have to know that I like to search for new ways to quickly put my ideas on paper. Charcoal simply is too stainy, even though it is quick and easy to correct. Pastel is also quick but falls off the Ingres paper quite easy without fixation. They are not very handy to carry around in my backpack as well. Pencils I easily can carry with my in my handy Derwent pencil folder. Deco Again This Deco title is a bit of a laugh really. The paper in some of these photos looks overly textured due to the sharpness of the high-res digital camera. In person, with the human eye, the paper looks reasonably smooth with out blemishes. For this fashion illustration, Georges Lepape paints a stunning abstract pattern for the subject dress that is repeated in her hair. The work represents an early use of metallic paint, with silver metallic in the dress and bronze metallic in the blouse. Lepape's highly detailed drawing becomes more evident the closer you look. It's quite amazing how deftly he rendered facial feature on such a small scale. "Art Deco Sailboat in Abstract Landscape #740" is an original colorful crayon drawing on paper by Sylvia Spicuzza, signed in pencil in the lower right corner. The sailboat of the title is in the center, set against a deep blue sky upon a dark green sea. It is framed by a abstract shapes of bright color that flow into one another in curving lines. The horizon line is maintained throughout the composition, and the effect is something like looking through a kaleidoscope.
