Edward Dufner
Summer Days Impressionist

circa 1916

About the Item

Edward Dufner is one of America's finest American Impressionists. This is an exceptional work by him. The technique is exquisite with the brushwork being refined and sophisticated, the subject is lovely and the presentation in the frame elegant. Dufner moved to New Jersey and tended to depict children out with their mothers in sunlit landscapes. There are few period works like this as most American Impressionists of the period did pure landscapes without the figure. This work is under glass and is in a high quality gold leaf, hand carved French frame. This artist is in many museums in America, books on American Impressionism including Gerdt's books and in important collections.
