Francis Luis Mora
Battle Scene, Spanish American War

c. 1898

$1,300

About

Francis Luis Mora was considered one of America's finest "sketchers". A collection of his Sketchbooks are at the Smithsonian and this work came out of one in the early 1990's from the estate. It is beautifully framed in a Gold Leaf Hudson River school frame of high quality. The piece needs to hang in an intimate spot where it can be viewed up close and has a marvelous feel to it. The artist did a series of works based on this War. Great for man's study or as a gift to a history buff. Mora is a great American artist who produced both a strong statement of work in American art but is also considered an ex-patriot in terms of how much he traveled to places like Spain.
