Medium: Pen and Ink on Cardstock Signature: Signed Lower Left Caricature by George Wachsteter (1911-2004), for the long running 1943 Broadway production of `The Voice of the Turtle`, starring Peggy French, Phyllis Ryder & Harvey Stephens. Written and directed by John van Druten, designed by Stewart Chaney, the show ran 12/8/43 - 01/03/48, for 1,553 performances, at the Hudson, Martin Beck & Morosco Theatres. Illustration most likely dates from Sept 1947 at the Morosco when Stephens replaced Boyd Crawford as Bill, and Ryder in Sept 1947 was filling in for Louise Horton as Sally when Horton was vacationing. On cardstock. Appeared in the New York Herald Tribune, includes clipping. 17" x 14" Stains lower left, white corrections by GW.
