"Odalisque", contemporary, man, figurative, interior, pastel

2010

About the Item

Jill Pottle's figurative work "Odalisque" was done with a series of other works about the "Absurd". She uses historical references to guide this beautiful man's back in the immediacy rich colors of pastel. This piece would require framing and will ship loosely rolled in a 12" tube. Enjoy the sensual subject and rich colored pallet. Known for her complicated and engaging still life and loose plein air work, Jill Pottle is a New Realist painter from Worcester County. Her aim is to capture movement and emotional qualities in her canvases. In her still life paintings, she most often uses retro or well-worn ordinary objects that focus attention on life in our contemporary world. In her landscapes, she freezes a moment in time to exemplify the power of the life force in nature. Rich brush work and high chroma characterize her fluid painterly style in both areas of subject matter. The play of light on different surfaces and the layering of paint create depth and resonance in her work. Pottle is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.
