Baptism Sedan is an original watercolor drawing on creamy paper realized in the 19th Century by Michela De Vito, Naples.
Titled on the lower center.
Included a Passepartout: 49 x 34 cm
Good conditions.
Beautiful typical work realized by an Italian artist of the XVIII-XIX century, characterized by harmonious and congruous colors, created by delicacy and precise, smooth strokes, a mastery in applying aesthetic features.
Michela De Vito became quite a famous artist. She was maybe the daughter or sister, it is not clear, of Camillo de Vito, a renowned painter of gouaches depicting views and scenes from everyday life. She worked in Naples at the beginning of the XIX century; sometimes she is mistaken with Michele de Vito. "A refined painter, very skilled when it came to drawings, she had the characteristic to make her subject more gentle, compared to her male colleagues"; this is how De Rosa and Trastulli describe this artist. This gentleness is quite evident in her figures and in their clothes.
