This artwork titled "Port Stephenson" c.1950 is a watercolor by noted American maritime artist Rockwell Smith Brank Jr. 1917-2007. It is signed at the lower right corner by the artist. the size is 16 x 23.5 inches. It is in excellent condition, some glue residue due to hanging tape removal remain on the back of the sheet, not visible from the front.
About the artist:
Maritime artist Rockwell Smith Brank Jr. was born in New Jersey in 1917. Brank learned to paint from his father, Rockwell Smith Brank Sr, 1875-1947 which was a noted artist. He was a resident of Union, New Jersey in 1930. His paintings and watercolors depicting ships and coastal scenes are held in numerous private collections in the U.S. and abroad. He was putting great attention to colors and detail on his paintings. He gained recognition early in his career, especially in the east coast and California.
