A fine early 19th Century coastal scene in watercolour showing a shrimp catcher, with his large net over his shoulder, bidding farewell to his wife as she sits on the rocky shore. The artist has inscribed the location of Addiscombe at the lower edge. The painting has many areas of delightfully delicate detail, particularly in the threading of the net and the fisherman's jumper. The artist has signed, dated and inscribed to the lower left, The painting has been presented in a gilt frame with layered card mount with oval inner window. On wove.
