Study of a Tiger - Pencil on Paper by Wilhelm Lorenz -Late 20th Century

20th Century

About the Item

Study of a tiger is a beautiful original drawing in pencil on ivory-colored paper realized in the XX century by the German artist Wilhelm Lorenz, also known as Willi Lorenz. This is a preparatory study representing a tiger at rest. Each drawing is realized with fresh lines and a sure touch. This modern artwork is in very good conditions except for some folds of the sheet on the upper margin. Hand signed on the lower right side of the drawing. Wilhelm Lorenz (Germany, 1901–1981), also known as Willi Lorenz, was a German painter specialized in paintings of animals typically hunted as a game. His highly detailed oil paintings evoke the texture and movement of animals like boars, foxes, buffalos, and lions, depicted in their natural habitats and attitudes. His artworks resemble the works by Max Josef Hänger Lorenz. Willi Lorenz attended the Düsseldorf Academy of Art before moving to Cologne to start his artistic career.
