The artist explores ideas of heritage and belonging in her work, juxtaposing the Anthropocene world and her memorabilia with sculptural representations of flora and fauna. The nostalgia of her postcards is transformed into a sombre background for the magical realism of the disproportionate main figures. Analytical precision meets the poetic whole through her extraordinary attention to detail, which gives her images both vividness and a touch of the uncanny. Ostrovskaya is also a sculptor and works with porcelain, pursuing her interest in depictions of nature.
