About the Item

A landscape scene at the River Derwent in the valley of Borrowdale, Cumberland (now Cumbria). The second of two paintings by the artist depicting this river. Presented glazed in a gold card mount and a wooden frame with burr yew wood veneer and gilt-effect edges. Signed and dated to the lower-left corner. Artist's label to the reverse which includes the location. On wove.
