About the Item
872 BRU Series: Steep/Stepped Parade. [Bruges, Belgium].
Contemporary artist Thomas Roese, inspired by the industrial landscape of steel mills, rail yards, architectural details, and urban neighborhoods surrounding him, created a series of realist drawings in a grand-scale format. The details in each piece challenge one to stand back and enjoy the big view – they hold up from a distance and close-up. These impressive mixed media works-on-paper are made using acrylic paint, graphite, and colored pencil on acid-free paper. “Steep/Stepped Parade” is signed and dated on the verso (see images). The paper size is 16 x 40 inches. It is signed, titled, and dated on verso. Le Panier - Markt 28, 8000 Bruges, Belgium, is a noted French/Belgium/European restaurant.
Inspired by the urban landscape Thomas Roese has created a photorealist series using graphite, acrylic paint, and colored pencil on acid-free paper, 2019.
Since graduating from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1971, Mr. Roese has been busy making his career as an artist and art educator. Since 1973 he has taught Drawing in the Continuing Education Department at the Cleveland Institute of Art and is a high school art teacher and department chair in Parma City, Ohio. Roese was recognized as an outstanding classroom art teacher and invited to participate in the AICA New York Summer Studio Program. His work is in the Cleveland Museum of Art and the American Embassy in Stockholm and numerous corporate art collections. He has served on the board of The Print Club of Cleveland and Artists Archives of the Western Reserve.
